How to Pray
Jesus said, "Whatsoever you ask in my name, I will do it" (John 14:13)
(1) PRAY WITH THANKSGIVING. Thank God for your blessings, naming them one by one. Remember that your greatest blessing is Christ in whom you have your faith.
(2) PRAY FOR FORGIVENESS. Confess your sins, realizing your need of God's forgiveness. Earnestly seek God's help in overcoming sinful thoughts and habits. We need to have our lives right with God.
(3) PRAY FOR OTHERS. Pray for the needs of the world, government leaders, your family, friends and those who are not Christians. Pray that God's will may be done everywhere on earth. "The key to being blessed is for you to pray for others to get blessed" (from "Nuggets for the Soul").
(4) PRAY FOR YOURSELF. Pray for your own needs, especially for spiritual understanding and growth. Pray for awareness of God's presence and for His guidance in every area of life. Promise God to follow His will as He reveals it to you. "When you pray, power comes" (from "Nuggets for the Soul").
Set aside time each day to be alone with God. Read a portion of God's Word and, after a period of silent meditation, pray audibly making use of your prayer list and the suggestions given above.
